Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) started its journey in 2002 as a project of CARE and became an independent organization with NGOAB registration in 2006. It provides funding and capacity building support to organizations working on critical issues related human rights and governance. MJF works in partnership with different stakeholders such as civil society organizations, NGOs, CBOs, government, private sector, research organizations etc. MJF, through its partners assists in building capacity of poor and marginalized groups for the fulfillment of their basic and fundamental rights and entitlements and raise voice against all violations. MJF works with duty bearers to ensure their responsiveness and accountability towards these groups.
MJF is now funded by UK Aid and the Australian Government.
MJF support is directed towards the most marginalized and excluded members of society such as the land less poor, persons with disability, religious and ethnic minorities, sex workers, fisher folk vulnerable workers and working children and women victims of violence. Besides providing funding and capacity building support, MJF is directly involved in a number of Policy Advocacy and enactment of laws and policies that complements the programs that partners are implementing. Notable among these are Right to Information Act 2009, Prevention and protection of Domestic Violence Act 2010, Disability Act 2013 etc.
