Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership (RWVL) – Bangladesh

Empowering Change, Amplifying Voices, Advancing Equality.

Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership (RWVL) – Bangladesh program is a transformative initiative dedicated to dismantling structural barriers to gender equality. Funded by Global Affairs Canada, this program serves as a cornerstone for supporting local Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), feminist movements, and gender-diverse groups across Bangladesh.

RWVL Bangladesh advances gender justice by strengthening Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs) as sustainable leaders of change. Through flexible funding, capacity-building, and movement-building, we support women, girls, and gender-diverse groups—especially those facing multiple forms of discrimination. The project works to foster resilient feminist organizations and movements that can drive lasting social transformation, promote equality and human rights, and create a future in Bangladesh where all women, with all their intersectional identities, can exercise their rights, realize their potential, and lead with dignity and agency.

Project Goal

Increased enjoyment of human rights by women and girls in all their diversity and the advancement of gender equality in Bangladesh.

Project Duration: 6 March 2025 to 30 June 2030

Population and Intersectionality

We prioritize those historically marginalized, ensuring our reach extends to:

  • Ethnic women and girls.
  • Dalit women and girls.
  • Women and girls with disabilities.
  • Socially excluded groups, including riverine chars’ dwellers, sex workers, gender-diverse individuals, women and girls in urban slums, and Urdu-speaking women and girls in camps.
  • Women migrant workers.

Project Core Focus:

Thematic Areas:

Project work is guided by four thematic areas that ensure a comprehensive and intersectional approach to gender equality. These areas address the root causes of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), promote Inclusive Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship (iEEE) to support financial independence, advocate for the essential realization of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and provide targeted safety and security for socially excluded communities. Together, these focus areas form the foundation of our commitment to building a resilient and equitable future where every woman and girl can enjoy their rights.

Total Budget: Canadian Dollars (CAN $9.5 million)

Funding Mechanisms

Our funding strategy is divided into two key categories:

  1. Multi-Year Core Funding (MYCF)

MYCF offers long-term, comprehensive support to WROs, helping them conduct grassroots activities, strengthen institutional stability, and drive systemic change, as detailed in the plan and budget. MYCF requires FD6 approval from the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB).

  1. Fast Responsive Funding (FRF)

The FRF offers quick, short-term financial support for urgent events, unexpected challenges, and emerging advocacy opportunities for WROs and feminist activists involved in gender equality initiatives.

[Join us in advancing feminism, gender equality, and feminist leadership through innovation and collective action. The Call for Concept Notes for our Fast Responsive Fund (FRF) will open soon. Please stay tuned for official announcements.]
